1. Malibu

Traditional wine country might be several hundred miles away from Southern California, but you wouldn’t know that from the amount of visitors flocking to wineries in Malibu. Malibu’s wineries offer a relaxed yet sophisticated wine tasting experience in one of the world’s most beautiful locations.

For a Glass of Wine with an Ocean View: Rosenthal Estate Winery

Rosenthal has an intimate tasting room along the Pacific Coast Highway, the only winery in Malibu with views of the beach and ocean. The location plays up the SoCal stereotype with the name of one of its wines, the Surfrider Chardonnay, and the taste is just as light as the offshore breeze.

The vines at Rosenthal – The Malibu Estate were first planted in 1987, making it the first vineyard in Malibu. This 28 acre vineyard is located four miles from the ocean at 1450 feet above sea level, within a perfect microclimate for growing high-quality grapes.

Best Ambience: Malibu Wines

Malibu Wines has the best outdoor tasting room and there is live music every weekend. The ambience here feels more like a big family gathering, with dozens of tables, chairs and umbrellas decorating the lawn.

Along Mulholland Highway, Malibu Family Wines ranch estate boasts 60,000 vines planted on approximately 65 acres, and a tasting room nestled into picturesque landscaped scenery—rose gardens and rolling hills of vineyards as the backdrop with incredible views to boot.

This is the perfect spot for a picnic, and provides an unexpected chance to see a collection of exotic animals like zebras, camels, buffalo and peacocks.

Make sure to taste their Semler Cabernet Sauvignon blends, as these are the grapes that are grown in the hills right below the winery.
